Shipping Policy

1. General Shipping Policy

1.1 - These Shipping Terms and Conditions govern the shipment of goods to and from Square & Compass Auctioneers. By engaging in transactions with Square & Compass Auctioneers, all parties agree to abide by these terms.

1.2 - Square & Compass Auctioneers acts as an intermediary in the facilitation of shipments but is not responsible for loss, damage, or delays caused by third-party couriers or shipping providers.

1.3 - It is the responsibility of both senders and recipients to ensure that all goods are properly packed, documented, and insured where necessary.

2. Inbound Shipments (Consignments to Square & Compass Auctioneers)

2.1 - All items consigned for auction must be delivered to Square & Compass Auctioneers in a secure and appropriately packaged manner.

2.2 - The consignor is responsible for all inbound shipping costs, including duties, taxes, and insurance where applicable.

2.3 - Square & Compass Auctioneers does not take responsibility for any loss or damage incurred during transit to our premises. It is advised that consignors take out appropriate shipping insurance.

2.4 - If items arrive damaged, Square & Compass Auctioneers reserves the right to reject the consignment or provide an assessment of diminished value.

2.5 - Items sent without prior agreement may be refused and returned at the sender’s expense.

3. Outound Shipments (Sales & Returns)

3.1 - Buyers are responsible for selecting their preferred shipping method from the available options provided by Square & Compass Auctioneers.

3.2 - All shipping costs, including packaging, handling fees, and insurance (if opted for), must be paid in full before dispatch.

3.3 - Square & Compass Auctioneers is not liable for any loss, damage, or delays once goods have been handed over to a third-party shipping provider.

3.4 - If an item is lost or damaged during transit, claims must be made directly with the chosen shipping provider unless insured by Square & Compass Auctioneers’ in-house service (see Section 5).

3.5 - Returns due to buyer error (incorrect address, refusal to accept delivery, etc.) will be subject to additional fees for redelivery or restocking.

4. Third-Party Shipping Services

4.1 - Square & Compass Auctioneers may provide third-party shipping services for vendor/buyer convenience but is not liable for any issues arising from these services.

4.2 - Shipping times provided are estimates and not guarantees. Delays due to customs, weather, or courier issues are beyond our control.

4.3 - Tracking information, where available, will be provided to the buyer, but Square & Compass Auctioneers assumes no responsibility for mis-routed or lost packages.

4.4 - In cases where international shipments are involved, buyers are responsible for any import duties, taxes, or customs clearance fees.

5. In-House Shipping Service

5.1 - Square & Compass Auctioneers may provide third-party shipping services for vendor/buyer convenience but is not liable for any issues arising from these services.

5.2 - Items shipped using our in-house service are subject to a shipping fee, which will be quoted at the time of purchase and is dependent on varying factors including distance, availability, size, weight and nature of the item(s).

5.3 - We provide insurance coverage up to an agreed limit. If additional coverage is required, the buyer must request and pay for an extended insurance policy.

5.4 - Claims for loss or damage under our in-house service must be made within seven (7) days of delivery, accompanied by photographic evidence and a full description of the issue.

6.1 - Square & Compass Auctioneers highly recommends that all consignors and buyers insure their shipments to cover potential losses.

6.2 - If a buyer chooses not to insure an item, they assume full responsibility for any loss or damage incurred during transit.

6.3 - Square & Compass Auctioneers’ liability for any shipment, whether in-house or third-party, shall not exceed the insured value of the item or the declared value stated at the time of shipment

6.4 - Any claims for loss or damage must be submitted within the timelines specified by the respective shipping service.

6. Insurance & Liability

7. Special Considerations & Force Majeure

7.1 - Square & Compass Auctioneers reserves the right to refuse shipping for items deemed hazardous, fragile beyond reasonable handling, or restricted by local or international laws.

7.2 - We are not responsible for delays, damages, or losses due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, strikes, government actions, or courier failures.

7.3 - If an issue arises outside the scope of these terms, Square & Compass Auctioneers will work in good faith to find a resolution, but no guarantees or liabilities are assumed.

8. Amendments & Updates

8.1 - Square & Compass Auctioneers reserves the right to amend these Shipping Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice.

8.2 - It is the responsibility of all parties engaging in shipping transactions with us to review these terms regularly for updates.

By shipping goods to or receiving shipments from Square & Compass Auctioneers, all parties acknowledge & agree to these terms and conditions.
